Springtime is an exciting time for everyone and this certainly includes car enthusiasts. After a long cold winter, which they usually are, Water By The Bridge car show gives opportunity for many to reveal new upgrades and custom works of their cars. But this is only part of it. A very significant part is gathering with new and old friends to connect and re-connect. To share the passion for cars, especially European cars.

Water By The Bridge is a highly anticipated euro car event held at the Ohio River in picturesque Waterfront Park in Louisville, Ky. The show draws many enthusiasts from the Midwest and beyond. Car enthusiasts showing their cars as well as spectators alike, came from as far north as Vermont, as far south as Georgia, and as far west as Arkansas. In its 6th consecutive year and my third year in attendance, it continuous to grow in popularity every year.

This show brings an abundant burst of great cars that include air-cooled and water-cooled Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Volvo, and other makes. It was a satisfying treat for me to have the opportunity to appreciate so many of these cars. They were as diverse and colorful as their owners and spectators. Each car was uniquely presented; reflecting the individuality of each owner. A live DJ kept the beat going all day, vendor and sponsor booths had product displays and friendly faces, a dyno measuring cars performance drew big audiences, and food trucks filled the air with enticing aromas.

The festivities went on for the majority of the day and concluded with an awards ceremony that celebrated the various classes and types of cars. The trophies reflected the uniqueness of the cars there. These were carefully constructed of various car engine parts welded in creative shapes.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s Water By The Bridge. As it is for me and many others, it kicks off car show season. It continues to thrive with its unique setting and sense of community.
