In 1987 Walter Röhrl set a new record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb being the first driver to cover the 14.42 miles long mountain road to the summit of Pikes Peak in less than 10:10.47 minutes driving his 600 hp Audi Sport quattro S1. That year, Pikes Peak, was mainly a dirt course. In 2012 the entire course would be fully paved.
