Other than race day, this might be the most stressful day of the week for the drivers and crews. This is the day the hard work of a year-long journey is reviewed and scrutinized, and the powers that be, determine if what you have brought to the table is edible. Pouring over every detail from the cage to your safety gear, and everything in between. Your prize, should the scrutineers determine that everything is in order: a sticker. A very important sticker that tells the world your car or bike is, indeed, ready to tackle the most difficult and exciting twelve miles of racing anywhere in the world.
For myself, and others, it’s a great day to reconnect with friends and introduce myself to drivers and riders, I may not have met before. It’s also a great chance to see some of the incredible new machines that will be doing their best to make the summit on race day.
Immediately following the day’s Tech Inspection activities are the Rookie School and Drivers Meetings. Race Director, Randy Ruyle, gives the competitors all of the last minute information for race week, as well as covering important safety issues.
Here are some of my favorite shots from Tech Day and the Drivers Meeting.
