Scotland’s Dario Franchitti had the rare opportunity to sample the car fellow Scot Jimmy Clark drove to Victory Lane at the 1965 Indianapolis 500. It marked the first win for a mid-engined car at the Speedway. (R&T) Last September, Dario Franchitti realized a long held dream to drive the Indy winning 1965 Lotus of fellow Scot Jim Clark.

In the January issue of Road & Track, Franchitti recounts his experience in his own words. The idea for the story evolved from discussions Franchitti had with R&T Editor-at-Large John Lamm and with the help of The Henry Ford, which owns the Lotus, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Lotus Cars USA, which provided the transportation for the car to the Brickyard, this remarkable story came together.
