Jordan Taylor is a 22 year-old race car driver for one of the best teams in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series, Wayne Taylor Racing. The younger of the Taylor brothers, he drives the # 10 Velocity Worldwide Corvette Daytona Prototype. He is set to race in Detroit this weekend and then heads to France next month, to race in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, for the second time. But as with any race car driver/budding social media star, with too much time on their hands, a few other friends armed with cell phones, and time between practice sessions – well almost anything can happen.
And happen it does, Lonely Island style.
Nice job to Jordan Taylor, Spencer Pigot, Mark Jensen, Ricky Taylor, and Ryan Eversley who bring back the Hip Hop Hype of the 90’s in this Summer’s Number 1 Fashion Friendly Film, Intergalactic – GRAND-AM Style. This is the second in what I am sure, will become a series.
It seems that the racers first video, Good Vibrations, the original “just for fun” video was conceptualized and filmed as the racers hung out during the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The roster included: Taylor, his older brother Ricky, Pro Mazda driver Spencer Pigot and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge driver Mark Jensen.
Here is the original, self-described video: “Critics say their interpretation of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch’s ‘Good Vibration’ is “nothing short of eye shattering.“
As the two sports car championships, GRAND-AM and ALMS work toward the merged United Sports Car Racing series for 2014, drivers have to think outside the box in terms of self-promotion and creating awareness beyond just their driving ability. These two videos prove that “outside the box” thinking will get you noticed.
Well done.
