There’s no denying there’s an increased presence of electric vehicles in motorsports. From the experimental Nissan ZEOD RC at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mitsubishi’s MIEV-Evolution III race cars that very nearly took the overall championship and of course, the motorcycles. The lack of combustion engine noise is hard to get used to, and the siren is annoying to some people despite its great importance to fans’ safety. However as you can see in this video of John McGuinness breaking the SES TT Zero record – they are incredibly fast!

TT legend John McGuinness won his 21st TT race on Wednesday morning when he took the SES TT Zero race in record-breaking style. Riding the Mugen Shinden, McGuinness was always in the lead and with a stunning new lap record of 117.366mph, he came home 23.3s clear of team-mate Bruce Anstey. Rob Barber, on the Ohio State University Buckeye machine, took third.
