First Open Wheel RaceCam – 1985 Formula Ford R4 Amaroo

YouTube Description: Introduced at the 1979 Bathurst 1000 in Peter Williamson’s Toyota, 1985 saw the world’s first RaceCam on an open wheeler car in Round 4 of the Motorcraft Formula Ford ‘Driver To Europe’ Series at Amaroo Park. Richard Carter (1976 Champion) and his Matek were selected. Tomas Mezera, in his Reynard, went on to win the race and the Championship.

We take pictures like this for granted nowadays but thirty years ago it was brand new technology. A great Aussie invention.

Motor sport is an international language.

My Life at Speed Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Chris Nazarenus, had a chance meeting with key executives at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1998. It would be the "Jerry McGuire" moment that would change her life forever. Although she knew nothing about motorsports at that time, the chance meeting would influence her passion for all things fast, great stories and interesting people. That's what you will find here at My Life at Speed. Visit Site →
