Those of you that have known me for the past few years can see that I’m a pretty happy guy. Those of you that have known me longer than that can testify to the fact that it’s just been in the past few years that I’ve gotten that way. There’s a reason for that…and I’ll tell you why. Just over four years ago I met the woman I knew I would someday marry and spend the rest of my life with.
This girl is pretty special. She not only allows me to pursue my passion, she even encourages it. She understands the risks, but at the same time she understands that racing and being around the track really is more than just a hobby for me…that it truly defines who I am. She appreciates my passion and allows me to work towards my dreams everyday. How I got so incredibly lucky, I’ll never know.
After dating for less than six months, I decided to ask her to marry me during the riders meeting at the 2007 Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The people I race with there had become good friends and I couldn’t think of anyplace else I would rather have been for that moment. She was definitely surprised and lucky for me she said yes. To all of my friends and fellow racers that were there, thanks for being part of one of the best and biggest days of my life.
And to my beautiful wife, Jenifer, on our Anniversary (May 10th), I love you. And thank you for letting me live My Life at Speed.
