Regardless of the result on Sunday June 15, 2014, one of the biggest stories is Porsche’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Michelin, the tire manufacturer proudly presents an exclusive series called “We are Racers” that presents the Porsche team’s progress in this year’s World Endurance Championship, leading up to the jewel of endurance racing, Le Mans. Not only do we hear from world-class race car drivers like Mark Webber, Marco Holzer and Brendon Hartley, but key team members we don’t often hear about. The series is presented in High Definition with a soundtrack and narration that evoke memories of racing films from the 1960s.

Episode 1 – 6 Hours of Silverstone:

Episode 2 – 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps:

From Michelin:

Michelin unveils an exclusive series of short documentaries revealing the racer breed on the road to Le Mans. Everybody knows Le Mans is about endurance. The untold story is in making it to the starting line. For the teams behind Porsche and Michelin’s push for victory, it’s a race that begins long before the chequered flag. But above all, the key to success is about being a racer. “We are racers” Le Mans is a race against time, the elements, the traffic, yourself. From blitzing Silverstone to winning Le Mans, being fast is not enough. This is a team race.

Being a racer is not the exclusive domain of a driver. The racing spirit extends right down the line to every mechanic, technician and engineer. Being ready for the slightest variable, anticipating and reacting when you have to.

Anything can change in a heartbeat. Air temperature, wind, rain, wear, traffic on track, fatigue levels. These are your enemies.
