The countdown is on to the new Formula 1 season on March 14, 2013 at the Australian Grand Prix. This Monday, Lotus unveiled their brand-new E21 race car and Ferrari is going to reveal the F138 on Friday. In the spirit of all these announcements, check out this video called Evolution of the F1 Car by Rufus Blacklock. As the name suggests, it’s an animated timeline of Formula 1 race cars from 1950 to 2012. If the winning chassis silhouettes aren’t enough to make you geek out like I did, then observe the engines and steering wheels in the top right. Not only does it show how far the technology’s come, but serves as a beautiful reminder of where the sport used to be.
