Aahh, the sweet smell of race fuel in the morning! One of my favorite smells, honestly. If there was a car freshener with that same smell, I would buy it by the case.
But I digress. The first full day of practice turned out to be interesting. Practice was open to the lower half of the mountain and the weather was the furthest concern. Actually it was awesome weather, sunny with a light breeze. Compared to the previous 24 hours, where the mountain received 4.5″ of rain. No, today we had to worry about a moose on course and those pesky bears, er, bear. Other than that, only a car or two flying off course, but more on that later.
I’ve been up for 16 hours straight so enjoy the photos I have. More are sure to come tomorrow with the second day of Practice on the upper half of the mountain, weather permitting. So far, the forecast has actually looked great. If it holds, this may give David Higgins and Travis Pastrana the chance they need to break the Six Minute mark and set a new record! I hope this holds true but only time will tell.
See you all at the mountain!
