There are millions of licensed drivers on this planet; but only a small portion of those can make magic behind the steering wheel. If you’re supercar manufacturer McLaren and happen to have some of those magicians on staff; then what’s better than getting a couple of them to test drive your latest creation? In this video, Formula 1 stars Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton had the opportunity of a lifetime, even for them. They test drove not one, but two XP8 prototypes for the superb MP4-12C at Goodwood Motor Circuit in Southern England, months before the finished model was introduced to the world.
It’s always fun to watch masters at work; and much more fun to watch them at play. In addition, it’s always fun to see race car drivers embrace their inner Top Gear presenter. Since Hamilton will be making his debut for Mercedes AMG Petronas in March 2013 at the Australian Grand Prix, he won’t get to test the P1. That vehicle will be the long-awaited successor to McLaren’s iconic F1. Although I’m pretty sure that Button’s new team-mate, Sergio Perez will be more than up to the task.
