The Barndoor From The Swamp
Volkswagen Buses built through March of 1955 are referred to as “Barndoors” because of their oversized engine lids (almost twice as large as Buses built after). This video (part 1) documents the rescue of an abandoned early 51 VW Barndoor from a swamp. The VW is believed to be from 1951 due to some of the structural characteristics that were available only in 51. This rescue happened in October 2013 and restoration has begun with the goal of having a fully restored vehicle by early 2014.
We will keep the video updates posted on My Life at Speed!! Looks like an awesome project! CNaz.
