How Much Would You Pay For An Unopened Sealed Case of 1970 Hot Wheels Redlines

Hot Wheels collectors are known for their love of automobiles and nostalgia. The thought of a Hot Wheels car brings back the “inner kid” in collectors who look at these toy cars as an investment.  Now that they have the money to go back and collect these cars, the values have gone through the roof.

There are 96 unopened mint cars in the case that has not even been cracked for a peek and has set idle since 1970. Before you scratch your head and wonder how the eBay auction needed in a “no-sale” with a high bid of $40,200.00, the current market value of each Redline goes for about $1000 to $2000 on eBay.  You do the math. There is a large profit to be made with these toy cars.

Unopened Sealed Case of 1970 Redlines

So what is a Redline??

A “Redline” Hot Wheels car is one that was manufactured within the first ten years of production, 1968 to 1977. The term “redline” derives from the fact that, during that period, the cars were manufactured with a red stripe on the tire.

The eBay auction that has finished, 109 bids. No sale with the final bid of $40,200.00. Wow.

Here is the original eBay Listing:

Up for Auction is an incredibly rare unopened box of redlines from 1970. The box is unaltered, un-tampered with and remains completely sealed. There are 96 cars inside as listed on the outside. Only serious bidders please. If reserve is met, we can discuss shipping options/insurance etc. Please send any and all questions and I will be sure to get right back to you. Happy Bidding and GOOD LUCK!

My Life at Speed Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Chris Nazarenus, had a chance meeting with key executives at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1998. It would be the "Jerry McGuire" moment that would change her life forever. Although she knew nothing about motorsports at that time, the chance meeting would influence her passion for all things fast, great stories and interesting people. That's what you will find here at My Life at Speed.
