EuroDistrict 2016

The all-new and highly anticipated Midwest car event EuroDistrict was fantastic! It showcased in Jeffersonville, IN, a small city located directly across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY. Numerous companies sponsored the event and title sponsors Adaptec Speedware, PHP Specialists, and Open Road Tuning. In it’s very first year, EuroDistrict attracted enthusiasts and their european cars from Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia, Chicago, and even South Florida. Nearly 400 show cars and hundreds of spectators and their families attended the event.

It was a picture perfect kind of Spring day on April 16. The venue felt new and modern, clean, spacious, and well-trimmed. It was tastefully highlighted with custom EuroDistrict signs and European country flags throughout the grounds. A dedicated DJ played a diversity of popular music that almost everyone could enjoy. Several vendor booths were neatly spread around the venue in just the right numbers. It was evident this event was throughly planned and well organized. Another interesting detail and a first for me at a car event was the integration of event text messaging. These messages comprised of pertinent and timely event announcements such as registration booth location, raffles and awards times, and an avenue to express appreciation to registered users. The atmosphere was laid back with friendly enthusiasts and spectators. Enthusiasts showing their cars that I talked to welcomed conversation and were eager to answer any questions about their builds. I found the local and dedicated police presence to be adequate and assuring. I witnessed helpful and friendly police officers chatting with and assisting event goers throughout the day. The event went without incident of any kind.

EuroDistrict 2016 celebrated the 10th year anniversary of Eurotrash Apparel Company, a company that started as a local small group in Louisville. “To celebrate all of the friends and experiences we made along the way and to bring the community we care so much about together”; expressed Dinah Jean Volante, founder of Eurotrash Apparel Company, in a post-event conversation we had. She also warmly spoke of all the people who have supported her along the way and helped in planning this event adding that she “couldn’t have done it without them”. Dinah further added that EuroDistrict was about “bringing the community together”.

I’m impressed by the sheer success of this event and the number of show cars considering that it was just its birth. It was fun, colorful, diverse, and certainly memorable! EuroDistrict has the potential to grow into a nationally recognized and influential car event. I enjoyed meeting everyone there and having the opportunity to cover this event with My Life at Speed.
