Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Lexington, Ohio

July 10-12, 2015

I’ve been wanting to attend this event for a few years and this was the time, I’m glad I did. This year’s AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days celebrated the 25th anniversary of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame & Museum. This event was certainly a celebration [the love] of motorcycles. Held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, one hour north of Columbus, this massive event brings over 1,000 unique and independent vendors of everything vintage motorcycles for one of the biggest swap meets of this kind in the country. It offered motocross, road racing, hare scrambles, trials, bike shows, street factory demo rides, a motorcycle skills challenge, moto trials extreme exhibition and one of my favorites, the American Motor Drome Wall of Death.

The atmosphere throughout was consistently lively, upbeat, friendly, and happy. The energy was one that there was nowhere else everyone would rather be but there. Most people rode many different types of motorcycles to get around the 300-acre property. This was the most abundant concentration of motorcycles and motorcycle people that I have ever had the pleasure to hang out with, ever. I’ve been to organized motorcycle group road rides where riders stretch for miles and support an important common cause but AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio was different. This event is a heart-felt life experience for many there. The deep passion for everything motorcycle was a contagious energy that I unmistakably felt there.
