Down the back stretch
I’m still a big fan of IndyCar racing, and enjoy seeing where the series has gone over the past several years. The return to a single sanctioning body, new venues, and innovative changes to the cars all make for some great racing action. I was able to get out for this year’s race at Race Sonoma and I was thrilled to see how amazing these cars look and sound, as they make their way around the varied elevation of this iconic track.
The World Challenge series runs as a support series for IndyCar, and gives the fans a wide variety of body styles, and driving techniques to witness throughout the weekend. The cars are always colorful, as are the drivers, and the racing action is always close; and it’s not unheard of to have two of these cars try to occupy a single piece of tarmac simultaneously. Rubbing is indeed racing, and World Challenge reminds us of that on nearly every lap.
It was a great weekend at Race Sonoma and I anxiously await my next opportunity to witness these series in action.
Here are some of my favorite photos from the IndyCar and World Challenge races at Race Sonoma. As always, don’t forget to have a look at the full gallery at the end of this post.
