Richie Parker: Our Hero and He Will Be Yours Too

YouTube Description: Tom Rinaldi reports on the life of Richie Parker, who overcame being born without arms to become a chassis and body component designer for Hendrick Motorsports.  Innovation and determination help him overcome his handicap now help him be a champion.

Richie Parker’s entire life has been a refusal to accept the limitations of his condition.  Born without arms, he has heard through his whole life that there were things he simply could not do.  But when he invariably decided that he would do those things anyway, he had to be innovative and determined in figuring out how it would be done.  This and a longtime love of cars led naturally to a career as an engineer, working for Hendrick Motorsports.

Parker has now been at Hendrick for 8 years, through 5 championships, helping to keep them as the winningest team in NASCAR.  His story is awe inspiring.

My Life at Speed Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Chris Nazarenus, had a chance meeting with key executives at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1998. It would be the "Jerry McGuire" moment that would change her life forever. Although she knew nothing about motorsports at that time, the chance meeting would influence her passion for all things fast, great stories and interesting people. That's what you will find here at My Life at Speed.
