People Watching: FIA WTCC at Race Sonoma

Sunshine, fast cars, and some of the cutest Grid Girls anywhere. If that sounds like the perfect ingredient list for a great weekend, well, you’re absolutely correct. Any day at the race track is a good day, but when you add in these other elements, it just gets better.

I’m a people watcher by nature. Got that from my mom. She could spend an entire day at the Beach, or Disneyland, and be happy just watching the rainbow of interesting characters make their way through the day. People are pretty interesting anyway, but in an environment like this, where you add in the excitement of racing, the incredible California weather, and the always cute, hard-working Grid Girls, and you end up with a people watching paradise. And I get to photograph all these interesting folks…on purpose, as my job. Am I lucky, or what!? Why yes…yes, I am.

I've been around some form of racing since I was a kid. First hanging around Ascot in Southern California. Then, after moving to Texas as a teen, I got hooked on drag racing and did that for almost fifteen years. In between I have raced Dirt bikes and Quads. 2011 Marked my 8th and final year racing up Pikes Peak: Five in the Pro Quad division and three in Time Attack. Future racing plans are in the works, but until then I'm at the track shooting for My Life at Speed as much as I possibly can.
