Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans – The Documentary on Velocity

How do you capture 15 months of preparation, challenges, racing, and the real-life drama of a race team into a title?  You don’t.  To the racing insider, the words Le Mans are all that’s needed, to the outside world – we owe some explanation.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans isn’t just another race.  It’s a journey for the sports car endurance racer and team.  It’s invite only, it’s earned, it’s the pinnacle, it’s gut wrenching, it makes you dig to the depths of your soul, it’s exhilarating, it’s the highs and lows of a lifetime in 24 hours.  Everyone that participates has their own unique path.  We decided to share our path with the world.

The return of Patrick Dempsey and his team to Le Mans is now a four-part miniseries premiering Wednesday, August 28 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on the Velocity network in the United States. “Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans” has been over two years in the making, is affiliated with Discovery, and will be distributed internationally. The documentary focuses on Dempsey taking his place alongside other iconic Hollywood racing drivers like Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and James Garner as well as the team’s tireless efforts on and off the track in preparing for the return to Le Mans.

We chose transparency over glamour, emotion over cool, and passion over success.  You’ll see a side of Patrick Dempsey he wants you to know. Racing takes guts, doing it under the scrutiny of current heroes and the ghosts of heroes past – takes some seriously tough skin.

Don’t let the title fool you…this isn’t just about Patrick Dempsey or Le Mans.  It’s the struggle in all of us to find our passion and succeed.
