Honda Release New Models in 2014

Honda have released six new models of motorcycle for 2014.

The models, many of which build on older versions, are more fuel efficient than ever before and have revised engines for a smoother power delivery. They include the Interceptor and Interceptor Deluxe V-4 upright sport bikes, the all-new CBR650F, the retro CB1100 and CB1100 Deluxe and the Montesa Cota 4RT Repsol Edition observed trials motorcycle.

Let’s take a look at each one to see what’s what.

Interceptor and Interceptor Deluxe

The Interceptor and Interceptor Deluxe are both V-4 upright sport bikes, complete with six-speed close-ratio gearboxes. The V-4 is 782cc and liquid-cooled, positioned at 90 degrees. Induction wise, you are looking at 36mm throttle bodies and PGM-F1 programmed automatic enrichment.

Honda Interceptor

Built for sport riders but also perfectly able to cruise, the front brakes are 310mm discs whilst the rear is a single 256mm disc for stopping power. The wheelbase is 57.4-inches, which means that this is a rather large bike, aimed at advanced riders. Honda motorcycles from Grantham Honda Bikes include the Interceptor.

CBR650F

The all-new CBR650F is a sports bike aimed at the middle segment. This sport bike was built from the ground up, so when we say it’s all-new, it really is. It features an inline-four 649cc engine that has been designed for low-range and mid-range riding.

The frame is rock solid, made from twin-spar steel for sharp and responsive handling, and this sport bike benefits from Honda’s latest technology, such as a digital LCD instrument package that gives the rider everything they need to know about a trip. The same six-speed transmission as found in the Interceptor completes the specs.

CB1100 and CB1100 Deluxe

The CB1100 features a 1140cc transverse-four engine with air cooling, and a steel chassis for direct and responsive handling. This bike is among the most powerful in the Honda range, with a five-speed transmission and dual four-piston calipers with full-floating 296mm discs on the front, and a single-caliper 256mm disc at the back.

2014 Honda CB1100

The CB1100 Deluxe features all of the above, plus an Anti-Lock braking system, larger fuel tank (0.7-litres), a sleek four-into exhaust system and better seat.

Available in limited numbers, the Montesa Cota 4RT Repsol Edition is a dirt and trial bike that has been designed to offer the rider maximum control. It features a specially designed crankcase decompression system that reduces engine braking allowing for smoother control. The 259cc liquid-cooled engine has been designed to mimic a 2-stroke in its power delivery, which means a sharp throttle response and instant power and torque.

Montesa Cota 4RT Repsol Edition

Transmission wise, the Montesa Cota 4RT Repsol Edition has a 5-speed gearbox and the suspension is highly advanced, and can adjust travel by more than 6.7-inches. This bike weighs only 165.1 pounds, thanks to carbon-fibre bodywork.

Overall, Honda’s early 2014 bike line-up is an exceptional one. The Interceptor Deluxe is quite the beast, and the CBR650F will be brutal in a straight line.
