FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Grand Junction, CO) – Dallenbach Racing sponsored by Famous Dave’s of Colorado Springs, Alpine Bank, BRM, and Hoosier Racing Tires is pleased to announce Dallenbach’s 2nd place finish in the Open Wheel division as well as 2nd overall with a time of 5:05:89. This weekend the team added a member from Hoosier Racing Tire, to work with them as well as overall and class winner Spencer Steele in developing a new tire for hill climbs.
Dallenbach and the team began the weekend by getting familiar with the new tires from Hoosier Racing Tires as well as getting a feel for the road in the new, to the team, 4 wheel drive open wheel car. Times improved with each practice session on Saturday as Dallenbach became more comfortable with what the car and tires had to offer. The day ended with the team qualifying 2nd for race day, with a time of 5:07:56.
After the morning run on Sunday, Dallenbach was sitting in 1st place. While waiting what seemed to be several hours for the second run for the open wheel class, the green flag was finally flown for Dallenbach. After making it approximately half way up the course, Dallenbach was red flagged due to an incident above him. When red flagged he was given a second chance to complete the run. Upon arriving back in the pits for fuel it was determined that the starter switch in the car had gone out, with quick actions from the team they were able to get the car re-fired and set to take the green. The gap between 1st and 2nd was a weekend long battle that came down to the final run.
“Obviously we always want to win, but I’m still very happy with the 2nd place overall by just 2 seconds in the first race with this car,” stated Dallenbach when asked about the results. “Loophole Racing made this a very easy transition to the 4 wheel drive, since David Hoffpauir helped build the car and his brother Bud Hoffpauir raced it up the peak.”
“I would like to thank everyone at Loophole Racing for the hard work and being highly motivated to get the new car ready for this weekend,” said Dallenbach. “I can’t wait until next years Land’s End Hill Climb. I think there is a lot of momentum for this race. I am very happy that Kurt Hansen’s Race Central TV covered the race and look forward to seeing it air in the coming months. This is a huge step for the CHCA and it will only continue to get bigger and better.”
