For the past decade, one name has become synonymous with domination in the World Rally Championship (WRC) – Sébastien Loeb.  However, all good things must come to an end and the thirty-nine year old Frenchman announced that 2013 would be his final year in the WRC.  In addition, he wasn’t going to race for the championship and participated in other events like the World Touring Car Championship and a legendary run in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.  His final WRC race was the Rallye de France-Alsace 2013.  It proved to be a bittersweet farewell to his rally career, as he and co-driver Daniel Elena crashed off the course.  His countryman, Sébastien Ogier claimed the championship for Volkswagen has long been considered Loeb’s heir apparent.
