From 2004 to 2012, Sébastien Loeb made World Rally Championship history by winning nine consecutive titles. The man from Alsace also holds all the records in the discipline, with 78 rally wins, 116 podium finishes, 1625 points and 906 stage wins to his name!
Discovered through the Opération Rallye Jeunes, a campaign to unearth talented young rally drivers, Seb made a meteoric rise. After winning the Saxo Kit-Car Trophy in 1999 and becoming French 2-wheel-drive Gravel Rally Champion in 2000, he won the support of Citroën Sport and its managing director, Guy Fréquelin.
The 2001 season was a pivotal one in the career of the young rally prodigy. French Rally Champion in a Xsara Kit-Car, he also became the first-ever winner of the Junior WRC in the Saxo Super 1600. Having reached his objectives, he was promoted to a Xsara WRC for Rallye Sanremo, where, in a classic race, he finished second, cementing his place in the big league.
The rest is history: having been in the running for the championship in his very first full season in 2003, Sébastien Loeb secured his first WRC title in 2004. Loyal to Citroën, he won all his titles in the Xsara, C4 and DS3 WRC.
Passionate about anything with an engine, Seb tried his hand at track racing from the very start of his career. In 2006, he even came second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Pescarolo-Judd he shared with Eric Hélary and Franck Montagny.
In his F1 tests with Red Bull Racing, Seb always impressed with his performance levels and his ability to adapt.
It was not surprising, then, that he should turn to the track at the end of his rally career. 2013 was a transi- tional year, with Seb notching up his last WRC successes, while also competing in the FIA GT Series and breaking a record at Pikes Peak. From the start of the 2014 WTCC season, he showed that he was up there with the best drivers in the discipline.
The Frenchman was on the pace right away with second place in his first race followed by victory in the next event! He scored another win and amassed top-3 finishes. He rounded off his first season in the WTCC in the top 3 in the championship and in 2015 he will be aiming for higher things.
