With the constant mind-boggling technological breakthroughs from millions of R&D dollars that Formula 1 teams put into their new cars, isn’t it funny that the fastest lap in F1 history was set in 2004?  Colombia’s Juan Pablo Montoya set a blistering time in the Williams-BMW car at Autodromo Nazionale Monza during pre-qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix.  Although Rubens Barrichello was the weekend’s big winner, JPM’s record stands to this day.
