Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!  Three time Pikes Peak Open class Champion, and good friend, Dave Carapetyan nearly met his maker.  Not on the treacherous tarmac of America’s Mountain, but in a simple, non-descript Mexican Restaurant in his home town of Austin, TX.  Dave and friends were quietly minding their own business eating lunch, when a runaway cattle trailer that was shaken loose from the truck towing it, came crashing through the wall of the restaurant.  Pinning some into their booths and taking out Dave’s leg.  You would think a guy with such a dangerous job, and even more dangerous hobby, might find eating lunch a pretty safe bet.   I guess not.Dave has been very busy lately, not only with preparations on his Unlimited car for the 2013 running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, but Dave is also one of the principles/instructors over at Rally Ready Driving School.  Needless to say, this little “incident” will set him on the sidelines for some time while his now broken leg is on the mend.   When asked if this will impact his plans to attend SEMA next week, he answered was simply, “Yup, not going anywhere right now”.  Unfortunate to say the least, since SEMA is such an important part of many a team’s year, with regards to meeting potential sponsors and giving thanks to those that already support you.  But anyone who knows Dave, knows he has a knack for overcoming adversity that would stop most of us in our tacks.

Heal up soon, Dave!
