Australian motorcycle racer, Troy Bayliss, is having a rather busy retirement.  This week he hosted the media launch for the 2014 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic.  The flat-track racing event will be held on January 18th at Taree Motorcycle Club, Old Bar, Australia.  According to mcnews.com.au, some of last year’s 5,000+ attendees called it the “best racing they had ever seen” and “best dirt track event ever”.  The entry list was filled with some of Australian motorcycle racing’s bright stars, seasoned veterans and of course, Bayliss himself.  2014 is heading in the same direction.  This video gives us a taste of what it’s like to race on the 400m oil-based dirt track circuit.  Specifically, what it’s like for Troy Bayliss to flat-track race.  Tickets are available for purchase online.

YouTube Description:
Two-time AMA Pro Grand National Singles Champion Henry Wiles and Japanese Flat track sensation Masatoshi Ohmori are both heading to Australia for the iconic Troy Bayliss Classic which pits 36 racers from flat track, motocross, road racing, speedway and endurance against each other on a 500m oil based flat track at Old Bar, Taree, NSW, Australia.

The event will mark the first visit to Australia for Wiles, who is a nine-time winner of the worlds longest consecutive running dirt track race – the Peoria AMA Grand National Championship TT.

“I am very honored to race the Troy Bayliss Classic,” Wiles said. “To be able to race with some of the best racers on the planet in a pressure free environment is an opportunity of a lifetime!

“I will be able to race against not only some of my heroes but also some great racers that I have watched for many years.

“I am curious to see the different style of riding and the different style of bikes. I am hoping I will be able to adjust fast enough to be able to race at the front,” Wiles added.

Masatoshi (Masa) is an internet YouTube star with over 300,000 views of his flat track sliding antics. Click here to view Masatoshi’s YouTube clip.

Event organizer Troy Bayliss officially launched the 2014 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic at Taree Motorcycle Club this week, confirming 35 of the 36 riders who will take part in the event.

“I am really excited with our line-up for 2014,” Bayliss said. “It is fantastic that riders such as Henry Wiles and Masatoshi Ohmori are coming to Australia to take part in the event.

“Henry (Wiles) is one of America’s finest dirt track riders and to see Masatoshi (Ohmori) do his famous slide will be a real treat for those coming to the event.

“I am certainly not making it easy for anyone, we have some of the best riders from around the world coming to the 2014 event,” he continued.

The rider line-up for the 2014 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic reads as a who’s who of motorcycle racing with some of the best riders from around the globe representing Moto GP, WSBK, IDM Superbike, off-road, endurance, motocross, speedway and flat track.
