Every once in a while, you see a YouTube video that makes your jaw drop from its beauty, simplicity and use of science, that makes you wonder what mad genius came up with this?  Behold, Forza Motorsport 5: FilmSpeed for the upcoming game that will only be available on Xbox One.

We’ve captured game footage the only way a game like Forza Motorsport deserves to be captured … with a camera bolted into the engine block of a McLaren 12C supercar as it blasts past 680 frames printed on aluminum panels at a maximum filming speed of 120mph. – Xbox

Here are the official behind-the-scenes videos that explain how they did it, featuring our friends Pikes Peak racer, Jeff Zwart; Top Gear USA presenter, Rutledge Wood; and another Top Gear presenter, who’s also a Team Hot Wheels driver, Tanner Foust.  You may also recognize Michele Shapiro from McLaren Automotive who was part of the Hot Wheel World’s Best Driver film (Keeper of the Beast).

Xbox presented their new console at this year’s E3 with a McLaren P1 rising to the stage, and it caused quite a stir online.  Not just because of the device’s incredible graphics package but the P1 hypercar’s appearance had fanboys in a bit frenzied.  Fangirls, too.

The Xbox One console will be available for purchase from November 22, 2013.  You can pre-order your copy of Forza Motorsport 5  online; as well as get your hands on Forza 4 and Forza Horizon for the Xbox 360.
