Vimeo Description: Another Racing In Slow Motion short, featuring the 1993 DTM Season. 20 Years ago, when Alfa and Open were still in DTM, when they went to tracks like AVUS, Diepholz or the Nordschleife, and when the cars still looked like actual touring cars – a look back, at what DTM used to be.

DTM Racing Defined

Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) isn’t just “NASCAR with a German accent.” It’s more like F1 with roofs.

Some have called it “NASCAR with a German accent,” but Joey Hand thinks the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) is more than that: “These cars are the highest level of GT racing in the world,” says the 32-year-old Californian, who likens DTM sedans to the single-seaters he raced successfully in Star Mazda and Toyota Atlantics. A BMW contract driver and the reigning ALMS GT champion (along with teammate Dirk Müller), Hand has been tapped for a full-time drive in this take-no-prisoners, European-based sedan racing series, which is still being studied as a support series for NASCAR or Grand-Am in 2013.
