The Mint 400 has held the title of the toughest, most spectacular off-road race in North America since it was first run in 1967. Besides professional off-road racers, notable names that have tried their luck in the race include James Garner, Steve McQueen and Paul Newman. This year, to cap off a momentous week in his day job, professional football player DeMarcus Ware joined their ranks. Ware traveled to Las Vegas and joined the Zero One Odyssey Team with co-driver Sal Masekela to race in the Limited Class. Once he squeezed his large frame into the Subaru EJ2 buggy, Ware raced more than 60 miles miles through the Nevada desert. While he may not be fast enough to race off-road professionally just yet, he did prove that some skill sets do translate – as he played a major role in helping his team place third in its class.

The Mint 400 will air as part of the Red Bull Signature Series on NBC Sunday, July 6th at 2 p.m. Eastern / 11 a.m. Pacific.
