We have given Dave quite a bit of grief over his “three” wheeled stunts at the Global RallyCross Championship held at DirtFish Rally School a couple of weeks ago. Although, Dave seemed to “like” our unexpected coverage, I am sure he would have been even more happy to have had us not get the footage or the story, as the finish line photos of a three wheeled Subie were enough. Dave – you are a good sport.

Dave Mirra – Olympus Rally

The anticipation of seeing Dave Mirra compete in the Rally Car event held up in the Olympic Forest was a definite positive and once again, he delivered. Dave Mirra is definitely the real deal and he continued to thrill all of us at the Olympus Rally Race this past weekend.  He just powered through corners with such conviction that you took note.  The stage(s) that we were on were rock filled, big turns and lots of action.

Dave’s car was literally mobbed and this little girl, all dressed in pink, was going to make sure Dave heard her story. What she said, we are not so sure, but she certainly had a few stories to tell with her Hot Wheels in hand.  Dave took the time to explain what we assume to be “racing lines” as he took that little white car and ran it down the length of his Subaru hood.  She was literally squealing with glee as she continued to monopolize his time.  He didn’t seen to mind as he continued to listen, to chat and watch as the seemingly perfect little girl pulled the pink bow from her perfect pink outfit  – out of her hair. Dave – that’s what makes you an even better racer, watching how you handled that little girl all adorned from head to toe in pink. What you did is make it a “pink perfection” day.  One that she will never forget.  We are sure her parents won’t either.

He was exciting to watch race for sure, but for our team, what made him a true “racer” was watching him interact with a little girl during the early morning meet and greet.

Dave – we all had a difficult Saturday and after seeing these photos we smiled.  We hope you do too.

Godspeed to Matthew Marker. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his team, his family, his friends and the racing community.

I suppose that a little girl head to toe in pink,  became a reminder for all of us that at the end of the day, family and friendship is really all we can count on.
